Warner Bros. announced Saturday that filming has started on Wonder Woman, which will star Gal Gadot in the title role. The studio also released a new photo of Gadot in costume.
Wonder Woman will be directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), marking the first time a woman has helmed a superhero movie for Warner Bros. This is also the first time the story of Wonder Woman will be told on the silver screen.
Warner Bros. confirmed that Chris Pine (Star Trek) will star as Captain Steve Trevor. The rest of the supporting cast includes Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Said Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.
The crew also includes cinematographer Matthew Jensen, a Game of Thrones veteran; production designer Aline Bonetto; Oscar-winning editor MArtin Walsh (Chicago); and Oscar winning costume designer Lindy Hemming.
Producers are Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder. Executive producers are Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Jones and Rebecca Roven.
Gadot will make her debut as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Her solo movie will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
