1. Bumble-Ardy (2011) – Believe it or not, Bumble-Ardy came from a Sesame Street segment. He lives with his aunt because his parents were eaten. Never having had a birthday party, he throws one for himself and invites a bunch of friends and everything is wonderful.…Come now, it’s a Sendak book, of course it all goes awry! After Sendak passed away, his book sales skyrocketed, Bumble-Ardy being the #1 seller.
Overall, Sendak published 16 books of his own and illustrated countless others, including Tony Kushner’s book adaptation of Brundibar, the Czech opera performed by the children of Terezin concentration camp. There’s no doubt his books will continue to entertain children for generations to come.
