4. On The Waterfront - Elia Kazan, 1954
“Charley, you should have looked out for me.” Marlon Brando’s performance in this film is probably the best ever filmed. Kazan shot this one on location in New York and it only helps make it one of the most powerful films of all time. Brando is surrounded by fantastic supporting players, including Eva Marie Saint in her first film role.
