Sung by lead vocalist Cory Wells, “Mama Told Me Not to Come” was written by Randy Newman in 1966 for Eric Burdon’s first solo album. First recorded by Eric Burdon & the Animals and then by Randy Newman himself, it was Three Dog Night’s 1970 version that hit #1 on Billboard’s Top 100 and was ranked by Billboard as the #11 song of 1970. The song appeared on Three Dog Night’s third LP, It Ain’t Easy.
