3. Cast Iron Tennessee Honey Whiskey Apple Crisp

Looking to use your grill one last time on a gorgeous fall day? Try this Jack Daniel’s grilled apple crisp for a grown up treat.

TN Honey Whiskey Apple Crisp

Pecan Topping
• ¾ cup chopped pecans
• ¼ cup flour
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• ½ tsp. vanilla
• ¼ tsp. cinnamon
• ¼ tsp. salt
• 4 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling
• ½ cup, plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 3 apples, diced
• 3 tablespoons Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• ½ tsp. salt
Instructions
• Heat the grill to medium (about 400 degrees), creating an indirect cook area and a direct cook area.
• Combine all of the topping ingredients in a medium bowl.
• Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cornstarch together in a small bowl and set aside.
• Combine the remaining filling ingredients in a large bowl.
• Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet on the grill over direct heat. Add the topping ingredients and cook, stirring often, for 8 minutes. Return the topping to the bowl and set aside.
• Pour the apple mixture into the skillet and move the skillet to indirect heat. Close the grill lid and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The apples should be tender with a little bite.
• Pour the sugar cornstarch mixture into the skillet. Move the skillet over direct heat and cook, stirring often for 8 minutes.
• Spoon the topping over the apples and continue cooking for 2 minutes.
• Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
