Tom Hiddleston fans know the actor loves to do impressions and he’s asked to do them all the time, but he usually doesn’t have to do them in front of the person he’s pretending to be. However, while on the U.K.’s Graham Norton Show last week, Hiddleston had to do his Robert De Niro impression in front of the man himself.

Norton asked Hiddleston about his famous impressions, and Hiddleston said that he does them out of respect for the actors he works with and admires. He did quick impressions of Christopher Walken and Owen Wilson.
This lead to him discussing one of his all-time favorite movie scenes - the first time De Niro and Al Pacino are on the screen at that same time in Michael Mann’s Heat.
Hiddleston completely recreated the scene, first playing Pacino and then doing De Niro, who was on the show to promote The Intern with Anne Hathaway (who was also sitting on the couch).
De Niro praised Hiddleston for playing out one of his own favorite scenes. This lead to a fascinating discussion from De Niro about the making of the scene and why he loved playing it.
De Niro can be seen in The Intern, while Hiddleston’s next film is the Hank Williams Biopic I Saw The Light. That movie opens on Nov. 27. Hiddleston also stars in Crimson Peak, which opens on Oct. 16.
