Camelot
While working in Merlin’s tower, Belle, Snow, and Regina come up with the idea to talk to him. It requires the use of a magical toadstool called the crimson crown. Prince Charming decides to go on a quest to get it, and King Arthur insists on accompanying him. As they arm themselves, they discuss the knights of the round table. Arthur explains that they all sit at the same level except for one, but it’s not for him. The chair is called the Siege Perilous, and is reserved for the knight with the purest heart. This leads them into a discussion of Lancelot, wherein David informs Arthur of Lancelot’s death.
As Arthur and David quest together, they discover they have more in common than they may have first thought. They both come from humble beginnings, and their wives seem to be very similar in nature and ability. When they find the crimson crown, it is on a small island in a swamp. David tests the bridge-like walkway and concludes that only one of them can cross. Arthur makes no argument and says he’ll wait with the torch, which David can look for on his way back. David gets the toadstool, but on his way back is overcome by the armor of bodiless knights. As he looks towards the end of the bridge where Arthur should be waiting, no one is there. David is pulled below the water and just when we’ve given up on Arthur, he shows up to pull David to safety. I’m wondering why the armor didn’t attack Arthur also, and where he was before.
As they sit on the solid ground to rest, David reaches in his pouch to show Arthur the toadstool, but it isn’t there. After discussing what it means to be a hero, and wanting to be remembered for something great, Arthur offers David a spot at the round table. At the ceremony, Arthur seats him in the Siege Perilous.
The clapping is too noisy for baby Neal, so Snow takes him into the hall. There she sees Lancelot. He tells her that his supposed death is a long story, but he’s back in Camelot because of a villain. Snow assumes he means the Dark One, but is shocked when he says it’s Arthur.

Later that evening, Guinevere walks up to Arthur who is still sitting at the round table. She sees him unwrap the toadstool. Somehow he managed to steal it from David. Guinevere seems surprised and asks him why he lied to David. Arthur says he didn’t want to, but that he has to think of his kingdom first. My guess is that Arthur is behind Merlin being a tree, and doesn’t like the idea of anyone being able to talk to him.
At some point during all of this, Regina and Zelena have an argument over the baby. Regina tells Zelena that she can’t take the baby away from Robin, and Zelena retorts that they’re going to take it away from her. I think she has a valid point, one that Regina basically proves with her final comments. Zelena insists that the child is her only chance for someone to truly love her and that if Regina got a second chance, they why can’t she. Regina angrily replies that Zelena had more than one second chance, and that she can’t keep painting herself as the victim. I find it ironic though, that Regina doesn’t realize that she too had several chances before she finally began turning things around. This whole baby plot line really bothers me. I like the idea that even Zelena can find redemption with the love of a child. I mean, isn’t it for the love of Henry that Regina finally changed?
