Matt Davis
Matt Davis ended his panel with a long story about believing in aliens and how his friends played a massive prank on him using that belief. But before he got to that tale, he answered several questions. He was very raw and honest in his answers, touching on his personal struggles, what's up with Alaric and more. Here's what he shared:

- "Last year it was clear the Damon-Alaric relationship was missing," said Davis. He said fans will definitely see more of that relationship this season.
- When asked about getting scenes with Lilly [Salvatore, played by Annie Wersching], he said "F yeah, I'd like to, she's a beautiful woman."
- When asked if season 7 being the casts' favorite season has anything to do with Elena being gone, he expressed his love for Nina Dobrev and said everyone misses her. But he added, "The love triangle was a driving force in [the show] but after a while it became restrictive." So he does think that with Elena gone, it's opened up the narrative for other characters.
- He had fun getting to play Alaric possessed by Klaus because it was a challenge playing someone else's character and to play along with the diabolical character that is Klaus.
- He wishes Alaric's vampire nature was explored more intimately -- the he was shown getting overwhelmed by the lust.
- He thinks it's easier to play dark characters because you're unencumbered by guilt and morality. "Going dark requires a deeper amount of surrender," he said. That used to be hard for him to do but he's in a better place in his life where he's more comfortable surrendering.
- He feels blessed to have traveled so long with Alaric.
- He joked that after the show, he'll retire to Italy. He then noted that his friends all have a plan, and are directing and such but he's not, which is a reflection of his struggles with recognizing his potential and realizing it. But he said as long as he can do something positive, he'll be happy.
- When he was seemingly killed off the show for good, he'd had a sense it was coming based on his contract length. The scene was "probably the least amount of acting I've done on the show," said Davis, explaining that it was easy because the emotions were real.
- About his journey from human to vampire and back, and his deaths, he said, "when you die so many times you have a new appreciation for life and for friends."
- When asked which of his movies was his favorite to do he started by saying that Tigerland was his favorite creatively. With Urban Legends: Final Cut he felt like he was caught with his pants down around his ankles because it was his first lead role in a feature film.
- When he did Legally Blonde, he had his first awkward fan moment, freaking out over meeting Reese Witherspoon.
- He didn't expect Legally Blonde to be so successful so he didn't store much of it in his memory.
- Aaah! Zombies was one of the funniest scripts he's ever seen. He thinks it should have made more money than it did.
- He hopes Alaric will get a new love interest this season, but didn't say if that was a sure bet.
