Peyton Reed, the director who swept in to make sure Marvel’s Ant-Man was finished on time after Edgar Wright left, is reportedly in talks to direct the sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.
Marvel announced earlier this month that an Ant-Man sequel has been added to the Phase 3 roster after the surprising success the first film met with this past summer. While the film didn’t quite become the shocking hit Guardians of the Galaxy became, Ant-Man still overcame the director switch and has grossed $454 million worldwide so far.
With all that in mind, it comes as no surprise that The Hollywood Reporter reported Wednesday that Reed is in talks to helm the follow-up. Reed’s other credits include Yes Man and Bring It On.
Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, who will become Wasp in the sequel. Michael Douglas also starred as Hank Pym, but it’s not clear if he will definitely come back.
Ant-Man And The Wasp is scheduled for July 6, 2018. Rudd will also make a cameo in next year’s Captain America: Civil War.
