The moment BB-8 rolled down the sands of Jakku in the very first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser, anyone who has built R2 units started getting to work on building one. But in case you don’t have all the money in the world to make one from scratch, Sphero has made a fully operation one. He’s a little small, but the droid works and moves just like the droid in the movie.

Like Sphero’s other products, the small BB-8 is controlled using a smartphone app. It turns your phone into a remote control and can also be used to give voice commands for your new lovable droid. It can also record messages, which, when played with a tablet in front of the doid, looks like a hologram on the tablet screen.
Sphero CEO Paul Berberian told Engadget that they can make updates to the toy, which will help once the film comes out.
“As we get to learn more about the character, we can bring more to it,” Berberian said. “It's not a plush toy, this is it. It is a robot. Now that we have that capability, it opens up this whole new realm. How do you tell a story with a physical robot? This is the perfect character to do it.”
Sphero’s BB-8, like most Force Awakens products, will be available tomorrow, on Force Friday. It costs $150 and here’s the list of stores where you can get it. We bet that this will be the most popular Force Awakens toy.
