Just days after Narcos went live on Netflix, the streaming service picked up the drug crime drama for a second season.
The show was renewed on Thursday, reports The Hollywood Reporter, just six days after it debuted on Aug. 28.
Narcos stars Wagner Moura as Pablo Escobar, the notorious drug lord, and tracks his rise to power during the 1970s as the leader of the Medellin Cartel. Jose Padilha, who directed the Robocop remake, directed the series, which was created by Hannibal writer Chris Brancato.
THR notes that Brancato has left the show to work on ABC’s Of Kings And Prophets. The season two showrunner will be The Shield’s Adam Fierro. The show will also change up its writers room.
Executive producers on the second season will be Fierro, Padilha and Eric Newman.
Narcas also stars Joanna Christie, Maurice Compte, Pedro Pascal, Stephanie Sigman, Ana de la Reguera and Roberto Urbina.
