Mel Gibson won’t face charges in alleged scuffle with Sydney photographer

Mel Gibson will not face charges for an alleged incident last month, in which he got into a scuffle with Daily Telegraph photographer Kristi Miller in Sydney. She was trying to get a picture of Gibson with his girlfriend, Rosalind Ross.

Miller claimed that the actor was about to punch her and cursed at her, until Ross stepped in to hold him back. Gibson’s Los Angeles publicist, Alan Nierob said the account was not true.

The Associated Press reports that New South Wales police have already decided not to charge Gibson after a thorough investigation. “At this stage, based on the evidence gathered, no formal action will be taken,” police said.

Gibson’s publicists also said that police reviewed the CCTV footage and did not find evidence to support Miller’s claims.

Despite the decision from officials, TEN News Sydney reports that the Daily Telegraph is still standing behind Miller’s story. She will also look into other legal actions to take.

Gibson is currently in Australia to prepare for his next directing effort, a World War II drama with Andrew Garfield called Hacksaw Ridge. He won Oscars for producing and directing Braveheart and was recently seen in The Expendables 3.
