Jason Momoa, the former Game of Thrones star and soon-to-be Aquaman, has joined Braven, an action thriller to be directed by Lin Oeding.
Braven comes from an original story by Mike Nilon and written by Thomas Pa’a Sibbett. Momoa will star as Joe Braven, a logger living on the U.S./Canadian border who has to protect his family from drug runners. They don’t know that Joe is actually a man ready to kill to keep his family alive.
Highland Film Group is taking care of international sales and they will introduce the project to foreign buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“Braven is the perfect addition to our growing portfolio. Lin Oeding’s background in stunts tied with Jason Momoa’s physical mastery assures us that the film will deliver heart-pounding action at every turn,” HFG’s Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier said in a statement.
The film will be produced by Momoa and Brian Mendoza’s Price of Gypsies, Nilon and Molly Hassell. It will act as Oeding’s directing debut, although he has a lot of experience in Hollywood. Oeding has done action design on Ant-Man, The Equalizer and Straight Outta Compton. He is also a stunt performer in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
As for Moana, he is set to make his debut as Aquaman in Batman v Superman. He will also play the character in Justice League Part One, Justice League Part Two and James Wan’s Aquaman. He also stars in Sundance’s The Red Road series.
