Ewan McGregor enlists Uzo Aduba, David Strathairn for ‘American Pastoral’

This month, Ewan McGregor begins shooting his first film as director and he has an excellent cast to work with. In addition to himself starring, he’s got Uzo Aduba, David Strathairn, Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning signed to star in American Pastoral.

McGregor agreed to direct the film in February after Phillip Noyce (The Giver) dropped out. Fanning and Connelly also joined the film at that time.

Today, Lakeshore Entertainment confirmed that Aduba (Orange is the New Black), Strathairn (Good Night And Good Luck), Peter Riegert (Show Me A Hero) and Valorie Curry (The Following) have joined the film.

American Pastoral is being shot in Pittsburgh and was written by John Romano (Lincoln Lawyer). It is based on a Philip Roth novel about Seymour ‘Swede’ Levov (McGregor), a former high school athlete who marries a beauty queen and runs his father’s business. His perfect life is interrupted when his daughter begins protesting the Vietnam War.

McGregor was recently seen in Johnny Depp’s Mortdecai and the Sundance film Last Days in the Desert. He also appears in Don Cheadle’s upcoming Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead.
