Actor James Franco, 37, announced on his Instagram account Saturday that he will be teaching the classes at Palo Alto High School.

“I will be teaching an 8 part film class for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS,” he wrote.

The 127 Hours star encouraged students to apply online for the course that will be offered to 24 students in grades 9-12. All application forms accompanied with a 200-word essay stating why they think they should be selected for the class and one-minute introductory video must be received by Sept. 10.

The objective for the course is to produce a film to be featured at a film festival

This is not Franco’s first go around as an instructor. He has previously taught classes in both Los Angeles and New York at his Studio 4 where students are accepted into programs that focus on acting, writing, improv, audition, directing and producing.
