1. Devo – “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”
Consider this cover a precursor to the Pet Shop Boys’ efforts: A New Wave band attempts to add their take to a classic rock song. What results, on the other hand, is less interesting – a repetitive version, likely limited by late ‘70s synthesizer technology, of the Rolling Stones’ quintessential blues-rock hybrid. It doesn’t stand the test of time and, instead, remains an oddity reflective of the transitional period in which it was created.
