2. Jaws
Not a horror movie in a classic sense. Director Steve Spielberg does a great job in Jaws of making the audience fear something that hasn't even been on screen yet. The buildup to the first appearance of the entire shark being first seen by the audience before any of the characters is expertly done. It leaves you wanting more, as the shark only hovers above water for a short time. Then Chief Brody delivers the classic line.
