Top 10 comic book characters hardest to adapt to the big screen

10. Aquaman

The Past: While Aquaman has never gotten the big screen treatment, or honestly had much of a chance of getting one, Entourage had their own version. In the Entourage universe, James Cameron directed an Aquaman movie starring Vincent Chase that went on to be the highest grossing movie of all time. Imagine?

Why He’s So Hard to Get Right: So this may be cheating a little since Aquaman hasn’t exactly faced the big screen or development challenges these other characters have. But come on…it’s Aquaman. The guy is a big part of the Justice League mythology but has always been a laughing stock. He’s the king of seven seas and is largely made fun of by fans of the comic book world (until recently, mind you, when DC rolled out their New 52 reboot) for having the power to talk to sea animals, which would never help in an actual fight.

The Future: Aquaman will be making his big screen debut in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where Game of Thrones alum Jason Mamoa will be bringing the character to life. That movie is directed by Zack Snyder, not James Cameron.
