7. Laser Cats (2006-2012)
This recurring sketch stars Samberg and Bill Hader. The two pitch their sketch to Lorne Michaels and get shot down every single time. Samberg and Hader are persistent. The sketch has a low production value, which adds to the charm. Laser Cats has a way of drawing in big name stars to champion for it including Lindsay Lohan, Steve Martin, Elton John, and Steven Spielberg. If starting a story, “In the future there was a nuclear war. And because of all the radiation cats developed the ability to shoot lasers out of their mouths,” isn’t a hook, I don’t know what is.
