Tim Allen says ‘Last Man Standing’ will ‘drill’ Hillary Clinton in political new season

While the sitcoms on broadcast television are usually lighter, especially those on ABC, Tim Allen is going a different direction for the fifth season of his Last Man Standing. The actor, who is a Republican, said that the show is about to get political.

During an interview with Fox News at the Television Critics Association press tour Tuesday, Allen bluntly stated that, “We’re going to drill Hillary,” referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“It will be horrible personally if Hillary continued [to lead the Democrats], but it will be great for the storyline if she continues,” Allen said.

However, he’s not exactly happy with the current GOP frontrunner, Donald Trump. “I sat with a group of liberal Jewish guys who said, 'When Trump starts to make sense, we know the world is upside down,’” Allen told Fox News. “Until I see what's under that hair, I can't really support him.”

It’s not like the show hasn’t been political before. As the Wall Street Journal notes, Allen’s Mike Baxter character has made jokes about how he doesn’t like President Barack Obama’s policies. But if he plans to push the envelope farther in season five, it will be interesting to see how far he’s allowed to go.

As for his favorite candidate, Allen surprisingly likes Ohio Gov. John Kasich. “He’s a Republican that a Democrat could vote for,” Allen said.

Last Man Standing returns on Sept. 25.
