French actress and new Bond girl Lea Seydoux has reportedly been offered the female lead role in 20th Century Fox’s Gambit, the X-Men spinoff that will star Channing Tatum in the title role.
Seydoux’s name has been linked to the project by the media for months, but Deadline reported last night that she was officially offered the part of Belladonna Boudreaux. The offer was also reported by TheWrap.
While Seydoux has been on the international scene for years now (she was in Inglorious Basterds and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood), she really broke through in 2013 with Blue Is The Warmest Color. Since then, she’s been in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, The Grand Budapest Hotel and plays Madeleine Swann in the upcoming James Bond movie Spectre.
Gambit will be directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and is set to hit theaters on Oct. 7, 2016. It will be the third X-Men movie of next year, following March’s Deadpool and May’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
