Get ready for more lip sync battles, word games and crazy sketches because Jimmy Fallon is staying at the helm of The Tonight Show for a long time. NBC said today that the former Saturday Night Live castmember has signed to host for another six years.
NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt announced the new deal at the Television Critics Association press tour today. The deal means that Fallon will continue hosting the show through 2021 at least.
Fallon took over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno in February 2014 following the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The move essentially took Fallon’s Late Night schtick from 12:35 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., since he has carried over many of his most popular sketches. He has produced countless viral hits during his tenure, giving everyone something funny to watch in the morning.
Zap2It notes that the show averages 3.85 million viewers.
