Fox midseason drama ‘The Frankenstein Code’ gets a new title

The Frankenstein Code, a new drama Fox will air this midseason, is completely removing the Frankenstein reference from its title. The show will now be known as Lookinglass.

Deadline reports that the title makes better sense than The Frankenstein Code or its original title, which was just Frankenstein. That’s because Lookinglass refers to the name of the company where two young scientists (Adhir Kalyan and Dilshad Vadsaria) who bring a 75-year-old former sheriff back to life as a 35-year-old man (Rob Kazinsky) with superhuman abilities.

The series also stars Tim DeKay and Ciara Bravo. The pilot was directed by Michael Cuesta and written by Life creator Rand Ravich.

Title changes before a show is widely introduced to the public through trailers and TV spots is relatively common. Indeed, several shows that have yet to air during the 2015-2016 TV season have also undergone changes.

Over at NBC, DJ Nash’s People Are Talking was renamed Truth Be Told, notes The Hollywood Reporter. ABC’s Blood And Oil was first announced as Oil in May. ABC also changed Smoke and Mirrors to The Catch and L.A. Crime to Wicked Crime.

Lookinglass will air during midseason. The network has also held back the DC/Vertigo series Lucifer, Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life and Bordertown.
