1. Killer Joe
The plot’s not important. Instead, the viewer has to determine who’s the most corrupt: a small-time drug dealer (Hirsch) who hires Killer Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a policeman who does a few hitman jobs on the side, to kill his mother for $3,000 dollars, all while the stepmother (Gina Gershon) and father (Thomas Haden Church) barter their semi-brain-damaged teenage daughter in return for Killer Joe’s services. And when no one can pay up, a grotesque, Southern gothic-style ending awaits.
