Donald Trump has new competition in North Carolina: Deez Nuts

There’s a new poll out on what North Carolina voters think about the candidates and this shouldn’t actually be that big a deal. After all, North Carolina is one of several states that have their primaries on Super Tuesday in March. But not every state has a candidate named Deez Nuts.

Apparently, there is a declared independent candidate in North Carolina named “Deez Nuts,” so Public Policy Polling had to ask over 950 voters what they thought of the candidate.

Incredibly, only 6 percent of voters have a favorable opinion on Deez Nuts, with 13 percent having an unfavorable opinion. The rest were not sure. If Deez Nuts ran against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a general election, 9 percent of voters would rather go with Deez Nuts than Trump or Clinton.

The poll does show that Trump is leading the Republican pack overall, with 24 percent. Ben Carson has 14 percent support, narrowly ahead of Jeb Bush’s 13 percent.

Hopefully Deez Nuts can survive the long slog to the general election and make the ballot. We can’t wait to hear his immigration policy.
