Anne Hathaway is moving over to television to star in a miniseries titled The Ambassador’s Wife and it comes from The Mark Gordon Company and Entertainment One.
The project is about a woman who is married to a British ambassador (obviously) and gets kidnapped in Yemen. It is based on the new book by Jennifer Steil.
This is the first high profile project from Gordon since he signed a deal with eOne last month to found a new mini film and television studio, notes Variety. eOne is financing, with Hathaway co-producing.
Gordon called the book “an incredible story that pulls you in immediately,” adding that the studios are fortunate to have Hathaway on board.
Of course, Hathaway is just the latest movie star to head to television through a limited series part instead of a regular series role, which would require a much longer commitment. The Oscar winner for Les Miserables is still working on films and will next be seen in The Intern with Robert De Niro. She also stars in Alice Through The Looking Glass.
Last year, Hathaway starred in Song One, Interstellar and Rio 2.
Gordon was nominated for an Oscar for co-producing Saving Private Ryan. His TV credits include Ray Donovan, Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds.
