‘Mission: Impossible’ star Rebecca Ferguson joins Emily Blunt in ‘Girl on the Train’

Rebecca Ferguson, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation this summer, has found her next big role. She will star in The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt.

Ferguson joined on Wednesday and the casting was first reported by Deadline. It means that she has decided to take herself out of the competition for the female lead in Channing Tatum’s Gambit at 20th Century Fox.

Blunt was first linked to the film in June, with Tate Taylor (The Help, Get On Up) directing for Dreamworks.

The film will be based on the bestselling book by Paula Hawkins. Blunt will star as the narrator, a divorcee who fantasizes about a couple she sees during her commute. One morning, she finds a shocking discovery at her home and gets involved in their mystery.

Outside of M:I 5, Ferguson has also starred in Hercules with Dwayne Johnson and in the TV mini-series The White Queen. She will next be seen in Stephen Frears’ Florence Foster Jenkins, which just finished filming and co-stars Meryl Streep.
