Most people always thought of the Home Run Derby as an event reserved for power hitters to win that is until Cal Ripken Jr. dispelled that theory in 1991. The Iron Man beat out sluggers like Cecil Fielder, Howard Johnson and Joe Carter to win it all with his 12 homers. The other hitters only hit for 15 combined.
