The Danish Girl, Tom Hooper
Isn’t one Oscar enough for Eddie Redmayne? No, he already wants a second. The Danish Girl is about Danish painter Einar Wegener, who was among the first people to ever have sex-reassignment surgery and became known as Lili Elbe. Redmayne plays that role, while Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander plays Gerda Gottleib, Elbe’s wife. It is directed by Hooper, who certainly loves making Oscar friendly movies. His previous film was Les Miserables and, of course, he won Best Director for The King’s Speech. The film hits theaters in Los Angeles and New York on Nov. 27.
