Toronto got a couple of Cannes’ most exciting titles, including Hungarian director László Nemes’ first feature Son of Saul. The reviews for this after Cannes were overwhelmingly positive. Nemes shot the film, which is about an Auschwitz prisoner forced to bury bodies, in the square Academy ratio. This certainly isn’t going to get large audiences, but this will likely be in the running for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.
