Marvel will be introducing us to a new Spider-Man very soon, and they now officially have the endorsement of the series' original director.
Sam Raimi, who directed the first three Spider-Man movies starring Tobey Maguire, told MTV that he has faith in Marvel and their new vision for the character. In particular Raimi is a fan of the idea of exploring more of the character's high school life.
"The difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero…that's what Spider-Man's all about, and so that they're going to explore that head-on is very exciting," Raimi said.
Raimi also briefly addressed the two recent Amazing Spider-Man movies, saying that he thought they were both great.
Marvel will be going for a new take on the character with their upcoming movie, which was clear when they cast the very young Tom Holland in the role, as we previously reported. The studio has also said the new movies will focus more on the comedy.
Tom Holland will debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. His solo film will be released on July 28, 2017.
