4. Who will be the new savior?
Supposedly true love’s kiss can break any curse. Remember when Belle almost saved Rumple? What about Emma saving Henry in the season 1 finale? Or Regina bringing Henry’s memories back in season 3? Of course, we can’t forget Prince Charming waking Snow, or Snow waking him.
However, that would make resolving this story line a little too easy. Our guess is that Emma will be like Rumple and give in to the insecurity that no one truly loves her, which in turn will prevent her from fully loving back. So then, how will she be saved? Here are the possibilities:
Henry
Any parent can tell you that there is no greater love than that which you have for your child. Also, if Henry pursues the path of the Author, he may be able to help her, though it's difficult to believe that he would purposefully misuse his powers, at least at first.
Hook
If Hook is her truest love, then maybe he will have to be the one to save her. Maybe he can somehow get through the darkness and cynicism and really do his job of protecting her heart! If he could convince her of his love and devotion once, perhaps he can do it again…it may just take an entire season to do it.
Regina
In many ways Regina has a yin yang relationship with Emma. As Regina began to fulfill the role of a hero, Emma started down her path of temptation with darkness. Also, Emma took on the darkness to save Regina, so Regina saving her in turn would make sense.
If the yin yang theory is to be believed, and Lily was basically the opposite of Emma, then Lily could potentially continue to be her opposite and take on a new "lighter" role.
Snow and Charming
At the end of the season 4 finale, Emma turns to her parents and tells them that they will have to find a way to get the darkness out of her. They did it once before, and now they can do it again, but this time as heroes!
It may sound odd, but Rumple may be a good savior for Emma considering he spent centuries under the mantel of the Dark One. If he truly is able to return to his former self, he may be able to sympathize with her. Then again, he may only help her, as suggested by some fans, to selfishly regain the power for himself.
Any of the Arthurian characters
There’s always the possibility that the Apprentice was right in that Merlin is the only one that can defeat the darkness, thus setting Emma free. There are also the characters of Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot. Who’s to say they are not heroic enough to complete the endeavor?
