Nikki Reed is going to Sleepy Hollow. The former Twilight star will play Betsy Ross in the third season of the Fox supernatural drama.
The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter and has also been confirmed by Entertainment Weekly.
The Betsy Ross of the series will be a bit different from the woman we learned about in school as the woman who sewed the first American flag. She also happens to be an informer for George Washington at night. In past episodes, Ichabod (Tom Mison) had mentioned that he had a relationship with Betsy.
“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow,” co-creator and executive producer Len Wiseman told THR. “Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross.”
Conveniently for Reed, Sleepy Hollow is filmed in Atlanta, which is where her husband, Ian Somerhalder, is filming The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. The two got married in April.
Reed’s credits include Thirteen, the Twilight movies, episodes of The OC and In Your Eyes.
Sleepy Hollow will air on Thursdays on Fox, following Bones.
