'Narcos' trailer brings Colombian drug trade to Netflix (Video)

Netflix released the trailer for Narcos, its newest original program, which shows how the Colombian drug trade grew in Miami during the 1980s, despite American authorities’ plans to stop it.

“Imagine you were born in a poor family, in a poor country and by the time you were 28 years old, you have so much money, you can’t even count it,” Boyd Holbrook’s narration at the beginning starts. Holbrook stars as Steve Murphy, an agent in Miami who was busting hippies in the ‘70s. Now, he’s facing his biggest challenge yet.

Wagner Moura stars as the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. Other members of the cast include Joanna Christie, Maurice Compte, Pedro Pascal, Stephanie Sigman, Ana de la Reguera and Roberto Urbina. It was directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad, 2014’s Robocop) and created by Chris Brancato (Hannibal).

Narcos will be available in full on Netflix on Aug. 28.
