Two 30-second teasers for the second season of Gotham premiered last night during Fox’s Wayward Pines and both tease new directions for our main characters. And if you thought season one was dark, you haven’t seen anything yet.

The first teaser, titled “Hungry,” reveals that Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is still stuck asking Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) for help, which The Penguin finds hilarious. There’s also shots of several new and familiar villains. It does look like Cameron Monaghan is getting closer to becoming The Joker.
There’s also a second teaser, titled “The Cave,” which shows Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) walking through the cave he found in the season one finale. There are, of course, bats down there.
Before the spots aired, The Hollywood Reporter shared them first.
The teasers follow an eventful SDCC panel and the news that Michael Chiklis will be a series regular on the new season.
Gotham’s second season is subtitled “Rise of the Villains,” which makes you wonder what exactly the villains were doing in season one if that wasn’t considered “rising.” The first episode premieres on Monday, Sept. 21.
