When you go to a Smash Mouth show, you might want to make sure you don’t feel the urge to throw bread at singer Steve Harwell, who you already know isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. That’s what one audience member learned over the weekend during a show in Colorado.
As the Coloradoan reports, a vendor at the Taste of Fort Collins festival was giving out loaves of bread for whatever reason. A member of the audience at Smash Mouth’s show apparently didn’t like the bread or wanted to share the wealth with the band. Whatever the reason was, the person started throwing slices of bread onto the stage.
Harwell was not happy about this and went on a long, profanity-laced tirade directed at the person. He even walked off the stage before a security guard pushed him back. Fans in the crowd didn’t like it and started booing. Eventually, Harwell made it back to the microphone and the show resumed.
Of course, Twitter users who were there and those not there found the incident hilarious. After all, who knew Smash Mouth was even still performing?

#SmashMouth singer freaked out when an audience threw #bread rolls at him. Ironically somebody once told him the world was gonna roll him.

Somebody DID warm him that the world was gonna roll him, so I'm not sure why he's surprised. http://t.co/39o3fUiqSj #Smashmouth #breadgate
