Inside Out is killing it at the box office and has been well received among fans, but despite all this success, Pixar says they don't plan to make a sequel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Pete Docter says there are no plans for a sequel at the moment, as the studio wants to focus more on original films. But he didn't entirely rule it out, concluding with "Never say never."
Pixar has a number of sequels on the way including Finding Dory, The Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4 and Cars 3, so it makes sense that the studio wouldn't want to do another sequel just yet. But we shouldn't totally rule out an Inside Out 2, as Pixar also said they wouldn't make a sequel to Toy Story 3. And we all remember how that turned out.
Despite coming in second place behind Jurassic World, Inside Out still did rather well in its opening weekend, grossing $90 million domestically. That made it the biggest opening for an original movie, animated or live action.
