New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski might have a public profile that doesn’t lead you to believe that he’s good at managing his money, but he’s actually really good at saving it. But the Super Bowl champion revealed this week that he hasn’t spent a dime made from playing football.
Sports Illustrated’s MMQB published a few excerpts from Gronk’s upcoming book - obviously titled It’s Good To Be Gronk - which includes some interesting revelations. One of them is that he’s good at money management and always tries to party clean.
“To this day, I still haven’t touched one dime of my signing bonus or NFL contract money. I live off my marketing money and haven’t blown it on any big-money expensive cars, expensive jewelry or tattoos and still wear my favorite pair of jeans from high school,” Gronkowski wrote. “I don’t hurt anyone (except Gord with the occasional kick to the groin), I don’t do drugs, I don’t drive drunk, I don’t break the law… I’m a 23-year-old guy just looking to have a fun time.”
This isn’t the first time that he has talked about what he does with his money. As the New York Daily News notes, Gronk told SI in 2012 that his father suggested that he invest his NFL money into tax-free municipal bonds.
Over five seasons, Gronk has earned $10 million under contract to the Patriots, notes ESPN.
