Mark Wahlberg says Michael Bay is probably directing 'Transformers 5'

The fifth Transformers film is expected to hit theaters in 2017, and recently it's sounded like Michael Bay might not be returning to direct. But according to Mark Wahlberg, that might not be true after all.

In an interview with Collider, Wahlberg said yes when asked if he thinks Michael Bay is directing the movie. In terms of when, though, the actor wasn't quite clear on when production would begin.

"But [Michael] Bay is in Malta shooting Benghazi, and I’m in New Orleans shooting Deepwater," he said. "We’ll get together when he gets back."

This contradicts earlier reports that Bay might not return to the franchise. He told The USA Today back in August that there were a lot of other things he wanted to do, and it was speculated that he might pass the franchise on to a new director.

The Transformers films have been some of the most massively successful movies of all time, with the most recent movie grossing $1.1 billion worldwide.
