Leonard Nimoy’s son, Adam Nimoy, has turned to crowdsourcing to finish his documentary about the character his father made famous around the world, Star Trek’s Spock. Adam Nimoy is hoping to raise $600,000 through Kickstarter.

The project was announced publicly in March, just a month after Nimoy died at age 83. Adam revealed that he and his father were working on the project at the time of his death. Zachary Quinto, the only other adult actor to play Spock, will narrate the film, titled For The Love Of Spock.
Even though 455 Films, a label based at Paramount, is producing the film, Adam said that he still needs the help of the millions of Star Trek fans around the world to finish funding it. The funding will be necessary to finish the film by next year, which will mark the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series’ debut, and to pay for all the licensing fees required so he can use official Trek imagery.
William Shatner, who played Kirk opposite Nimoy, showed his support for the film by posting a link on Facebook.
