The numbers for Jurassic World are starting to look cartoonish already. Not only did it have the biggest domestic opening ever, not only did it have the best global opening ever, but it just had the best non-holiday Monday in film history.
Estimates from Monday show that the film made $25.6 million, notes The Hollywood Reporter. That comes in just ahead of The Dark Knight’s record of $24.5 million, which had been standing since 2008.
Final numbers from over the weekend showed that the film made $209 million, which was enough to put it ahead of The Avengers’ $207.4 million start in May 2012. So, in four days of wide release, Jurassic world has hit over $235 million domestically.
Overall, the film has made $542.1 million worldwide, making it the first film ever to gross over $500 million worldwide in one weekend.

Jurassic World is the first film in the franchise since 2001’s Jurassic Park III and 22 years after Steven Spielberg’s classic Jurassic Park. It was directed by Colin Trevorrow and was only his second film. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star in the film, alongside some really mean dinosaurs.
