When Hollywood studios get an idea to make a movie about something, it seems that it turns into a bug that goes around. Surprisingly, there are a few projects in the works about the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.
The newest project is based at Skydance with The Sorcerer’s Apprentice team Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard rewriting a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (the Friday The 13th reboot), reports The Hollywood Reporter. It’s not clear what exactly this will be about, who would star in it or when it would be made.
Skydance is the same company that has worked with Paramount on the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies and the upcoming Terminator Genisys.
Universal is also working on an untilted Bermuda Triangle movie, which Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark are producing. Ouija team Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are rewriting that script.
And Slash Film points out that Daniel Kunka (12 Rounds) wrote a script that Warner Bros. bought in 2013 to be an action movie.
The Bermuda Triangle doesn’t really exist, but it is a mystery that has remained fresh in the imagination. The triangle is the area between Miami, Bermuda and San Juan, Puerto Rico, where ships and planes disappear. Considering the success of San Andreas, saving people from the Bermuda Triangle sounds like a job for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
