'Degrassi' ending this summer after 14 seasons

Degrassi, the Canadian series that airs on Nickelodeon in the U.S., is coming to an end this series. The high school series’ last 12 episodes will air over a two-week period, beginning in July.

An hour-long special will kick off the event on Monday, July 20 at 9 p.m., with new episodes airing every Monday through Friday until Friday, July 31. That night, there will be an hour-long special called It Goes There: Degrassi’s Most Talked About Moments, which will highlight the best moments from the show’s long run, at 8 p.m. The hour-long series finale will air right after it at 9 p.m.

“For an incredible 14 seasons, Degrassi has been a groundbreaking show tackling so many important topics that real teens face in their everyday lives,” Keith Dawkins, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr, said in a statement. “In the final episodes on TeenNick and through the hour-long special and social activations, we hope to say goodbye in a way that is both fitting to the show and Degrassi’s passionate fan base.”

The series’ 14 seasons have included 385 episodes. It’s also the show that helped introduce Aubrey Graham - better known as Drake - as he starred on the show from 2001-2009. The current cast includes Amanda Arcuri, Luke Bilyk, Munro Chambers, Reiya Downs and Sarah Fisher.
