Ava DuVernay will direct Marvel's 'Black Panther' (Rumor)

Marvel may have finally found its director for Black Panther.

MCU Exchange is reporting that Ava DuVernay will be directing the upcoming superhero blockbuster Black Panther.

This lines up with a rumor from last month that Marvel wanted her for either Black Panther or Captain Marvel. At that time, it was reported that Marvel was "courting" the filmmaker, though it wasn't clear for which project.

Black Panther isn't hitting theaters for another three years, so isn't this a little early? Well, MCU Exchange is reporting that Marvel wants DuVernay on set for Captain America: Civil War, the film that will officially introduce Black Panther into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

DuVernay is known for directing Selma, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards earlier this year. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director, although she wasn't nominated at the Oscars, a decision which was considered to be one of the year's notable snubs.

Black Panther will be one of several characters Marvel is introducing in the next few years along with Captain Marvel and the Inhumans.
