Zac Brown Band easily beats Josh Groban to top of Billboard 200 chart

Zac Brown Band scored their third No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, keeping crooner Josh Groban’s new release.

The country music group’s Jekyll + Hyde moved 228,000 total units during the week that ended on May 3, according to Nielsen Music data for Billboard. Of that total, 214,000 units came from traditional album sales.

Jekyll features the hit singles “Homegrown” and “Heavy Is The Head” with Chris Cornell. It is Zac Brown Band’s third straight studio album to hit No. 1, following the success of 2012’s Uncaged and 2010’s You Get What You Give.

Groban released Stages last week, which debuted at a strong No. 2 with 180,000 units. Of that, a whopping 176,000 units were actual album sales. That’s much better than expected and even better than 20120’s All That Echoes, which started at No. 1.

Stages was boosted by a roster of all-star collaborators, including Kelly Clarkson, who sang “All I Ask Of You” with Groban.

The only other debut on the chart this week was Suffer In Peace by country singer Tyler Farr. That album started at No. 4 with just 42,000 total units.
