Jimmy Gojdics, who appeared in National Geographic’s Ultimate Survival Alaska, was shot and killed at his Fox, Alaska home Sunday.

Alaska State Troopers were called to Gojdics’ home at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, reports the Fairbanks News-Miner. He was “suffering from apparent gunshot wounds” when they arrived and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police are investigating his death as a homicide, but had no suspects as of Monday afternoon, trooper spokesman Tim Despain said.
Gojdics, 69, was from upstate New York and did not have any family in Alaska. However, the outdoorsman did have many friends in the area and was often seen driving a motorcycle or horse-drawn carriage. “Everyone was his friend and he met someone everywhere,” Janine Carlson, a friend, told the News-Miner.
According to The Associated Press, Gojdics went by “Gaydos,” which is how his last name is pronounced, on the NatGeo show. He was on the second season of the show, but suffered an injury that kept him from competing.
“We were saddened to learn of Mr. Gaydos's untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time,” spokesman Chad Sandhas told the AP.
