The Trevor Noah era of The Daily Show now has a start date. The South African comedian will replace Jon Stewart in September.

Last month, Stewart announced that he will end his 16-year stint on the show on Aug. 6. After that, the show will go on a break before returning on Sept. 28 with Noah behind the desk.
Stewart announced in February that he will be leaving the show and an Omaze.com charity contest has been set up to give away tickets to his final taping. Comedy Central picked Noah, 31, to replace Stewart in March, even though he had only made three appearances on the show since October.
After Noah won the job, his old, unfunny tweets were widely criticised, but Comedy Central has stood by him. “To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central,” the network said.
Comedy Central also released a new promo today, showing how difficult it is for Stewart to let go:
Aside from Stewart, long-time correspondents Jason Jones and Samantha Bee have left the show to join TBS. Bee will host her own late night show, while Jones is starring in a sitcom for the network.
