'The Crow' remake with Jack Huston gets 'Birdman's' Andrea Riseborough

Relativity’s remake of The Crow is still coming together and may have found another key part. Andrea Riseborough, who just stared in Birdman, is reportedly in talks for a villain role.

Deadline reports that Riseborough is being considered to play Top Dollar, a character who is actually a man in the comic and original movie. The character is being reconfigured as a woman and a main villain in the remake.

James O’Barr’s The Crow first became a film in 1994, with Brandon Lee starring and Alex Proyas directing. The remake has been in the works for years and finally got another director, colin Hardy, in December. It will be Hardy’s debut feature.

In March, Deadline reported that Jack Huston (American Hustle, Boardwalk Empire) was cast as Eric Draven, the character Lee played. Therefore, production won’t start until later this year, after Huston finishes work on MGM’s Ben-Hur remake.

In addition to her role in Birdman, Riseborough also starred in Oblivion with Tom Cruise, Never Let Me Go and Madonna’s W.E..
