The first of this three-parter comes after a big foot chase. After Dom, Mia and Brian escape the CIA and Brazilian gangsters, they regroup and Brian suggests splitting up. But Mia reveals she's pregnant and urges them to stay together. Brian is shocked but ecstatic and agrees to her plan, saying "I'm not going anywhere." The three then share a sweet embrace.
Two scenes later, while Mia sleeps, Brian has a heart to heart with Dom, telling him he doesn't remember his father because he was never there, implying he's afraid he'll be like that. Dom assures him he won't and Brian says they have to stop living on the run. Not only does this moment highlight the bond between the two men, but it also shows Brian's insecurities, giving him an endearing vulnerability that makes him even more worthy of being rooted for.
The third part is when the gang finds out about the baby. Roman (Tyrese Gibson) insists that Mia drinks a beer, forcing Brian to hint at the news by goofily rubbing Mia's tummy. As Roman reacts and everyone congratulates them, Brian's pride is obvious. Dom toasts to family, capping off a three-part sequence reminding audiences that amid the races, fights and insanity, the theme of family — and Brian's commitment to it — is just as, if not more significant to the franchise.
