6. 2 Fast 2 Furious - When he meets his old friend Roman & when they have a heart-to-heart:
Besides Roman making a flashy, funny entrance (his signature style), what puts this scene on this list is that it's one of two scenes that give us the first real insight into Brian's past. Brian and Roman duke it out over something that happened between them long ago — Roman got busted shortly after Brian became a cop and blamed Brian for abandoning him. Roman, as he's losing, says "you should have told me, I did three years." Brian says it wasn't his fault and when they separate, he tells him about the deal he has for him to get out of his sentence by doing a government job.
Later, after he and Roman have worked up a plan to accomplish their mission, Brian brings up their past issue and tells him he really would have done something to help him if he could have. Roman asks him if that's why he let Dom go. Brian admits it probably had a lot to do with it and Roman admits what happened to him was his own fault, not Brian's. With that, they officially make amends, shaking hands like brothers and Brian's sense of loyalty to his friends shines through. We learn more about Brian and get to understand him better. It's an emotionally and thematically layered, yet simple scene — short, sweet and special.
